Customer Reviews
Decent service, minor issues
I got the annual subscription during a holiday special. The value was good for the price, and I found several marriage announcements for my family, which was my main goal. The search function is pretty robust, though sometimes I had to try a few different keyword combinations to get results. Delivery, in terms of getting access, was instant of course. My only minor gripe is that sometimes the image quality for really old papers can be a bit spotty, making some text hard to read, even with the zoom. It's not every time, but it happened a few times with papers from the late 1800s. Still, overall, it's a very useful resource.
Good value for history buffs
I signed up for the Newspapers.com Basic Subscription. I was comparing a few sites and this one had the best annual plan discount that I could find at the time. I'm mainly interested in historical events, not so much family stuff. It feels like a solid deal for what I paid. I've already found some interesting pieces from the 1930s. Worth the purchase for sure.
Publisher Extra works well
I purchased the Publisher Extra Upgrade after using the basic subscription for a while. The difference in available archives is noticeable, especially for the smaller regional papers I was interested in. Ordering was quick, and the upgrade took effect immediately. I specifically used it to research some true crime archives from the 1920s, and the searchable image archives made it simple to pinpoint relevant articles. I also tested the PDF downloads, and they were high quality, making it easy to save pages for offline reference. The site loads fast, which is a plus when you're jumping between years and publications. It's a solid service for in-depth research.
Easy to use, lots of papers
I got the 7-Day Free Trial to look up some old articles about my hometown. It was pretty straightforward to sign up. I found a bunch of interesting classified ads from the 60s, which was a kick. Navigating the site was easy, didn't have any trouble finding what I wanted. I liked being able to zoom in on the pages. It was a good experience overall.

Thinking of signing up for Newspapers.com for some family history stuff. Is it worth getting the Publisher Extra or is the basic sub enough for most things?
Anyone know if Newspapers.com ever does sales around, like, Black Friday or something? Want to get a gift subscription for my dad but don't want to pay full price if I can wait a bit.
